First MMS mission in Tanzania
From september 24th to 28th, an exploratory mission took place in M’Panda, Tanzania. This mission was partly financed by the Mères du Monde en Santé Foundation. Two volunteers from MMS France participatedto it: Jean-Claude Alimi and Antoine Ottomani. They joined the local team composed of two gynecologists, one anesthesiologist and two nurses. In mid-November, we will be evaluating the possibility of future collaborations.
Thirteen women suffering from obstetric fistula following a difficult childbirth were able to receive free surgical procedures. They hailed not only from Tanzania, but also from Burundi, Comoros, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Zambia.
